YUEN Viola 阮慧玲 Dr. Viola Yuen is an active composer, arranger, conductor and an A Cappella singer who is enthusiastic about the application of human voices in musical compositions of different styles. Her music displays uniqueness, originality and profound emotions. She is currently the composer-in-residence of the Academia de Música S. Pio X, of the Macao Diocese, an adjunct lecturer of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Music Director of the Sregnis Singers, the first contemporary A Cappella group in Hong Kong, the founder of the Coro Allegra and Chummy Choir. She is also a member of the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (C.A.S.H.) and the Membership Secretary of the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. For the period between 1990 and 2017, she was appointed as the conductor of the Diocesan Choir - Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong and the instructor of a choral conducting course under the Sacred Music Commission, the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong. She was the conductor of the choirs of the Hong Kong Music Institute from 2012 to 2019, the conductor and instructor of the Hang Seng University Sinfonietta and A Cappella Ensemble from 2018 to 2022. With the sponsorship of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild published the music score of her nine-part A Cappella works and the recording of another composition “LAMENTOR”, a three-movement music piece written in 2010 for choir and philharmonic orchestra, in a music CD in 2013. The orchestral piece “LAMENTOR” was also chosen as one of the music pieces broadcast in the International Rostrum of Composers, held in Prague of Czech Republic in May 2013. It was well received by the radio reporters and composers from 28 countries attending the event. Her composition “RITE OF DRAGON”, commissioned by the Handbell Association of Hong Kong and sponsored by the C.A.S.H. Music Fund, had its premiere played by six hundred handbell players in the 16th International Handbell Symposium held in Jeju of Korea in August 2014. This music score was also published by the H’ing Publishing (HK) and the Handbell Association of Hong Kong. One of her recent music compositions, “STABAT MATER DOLOROSA”, for soprano solo and organ, which was commissioned by the Macao Catholic Culture Association, made its world premiere in the St. Joseph’s Seminary Church at Macau in May 2023. Her recent piano suite, “DUNGEON”, which was commissioned by the Academia Música S. Pio X of Macau, was published by the Macao Diocese, in July 2023. Also, the world premiere of her commissioned choral piece “JESU CHRISTE” for two-part treble voices, soprano solo, string ensemble and piano, was made at the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Academia Música S. NG Chun-hoi Daniel 吳俊凱 Ng Chun Hoi, Daniel serves as a music educator, composer and music critic. Ng studied composition with David Gwilt at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and with Anne Boyd and Doming Lam at the University of Hong Kong. He also undertook research in Chinese music and teacher education and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Ng has taught music courses such as theory and composition, music education and Chinese music at various institutions including the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Music Institute. He is often commissioned for new works by different organizations and a number of his work has been performed and broadcast in Hong Kong and overseas. MUI Kwong-chiu 梅廣釗 Dr Mui Kwong-chiu is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild; Director of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH), Chinese Musicians’ Association member; Artistic Director of World Dulcimer Orchestra; an Examiner in Music at the Hong Kong Arts Development Council; Advisor of the Hong Kong Yanqin Association; Honorary Advisor of the Music Program of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies of The Chinese University of Hong Kong; Honorary Advisor of Tien Ma Chorus, and Hong Kong Parents Choir; Honorary Composer-in-Residence of the Hong Kong Harmonica Association. He also sat on the jury panel of the Asia Pacific Harmonica Festival, World Harmonica Festival and Hong Kong Drum Festival. In 2020 he was awarded ‘The 14th Hong Kong Arts Development Award’ Artist of the Year (Music) by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2018, for his achievements in music and contribution to Hong Kong society, he was awarded the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Distinguished Communication Alumni Award to celebrate HKBU Communication 50th anniversary. Dr Mui holds a PhD and M. Phil in Music at The University of Hong Kong, and a Bachelor's degree in Cinematography at Hong Kong Baptist University. MOK Kin-yee Raymond 莫健兒 Raymond Mok obtained the FTCL in Music Composition from the Trinity College, a Master of Philosophy in Music Composition from the University of Hong Kong and Doctor of Philosophy in Music Composition from the University of Adelaide. A number of teachers were influential to his studies, including Prof. Ip Shun-chi, Prof. Ye Xiao-gang, Dr. Chan Hing-yan, Dr. Graeme Koehne and Dr. Kimi Coaldrake. As a composer, Mok’s compositions had been widely performed in concerts such as Music to Touch Your Heart (1999, 2000, & 2001 in Hong Kong), HK Musicarama (2000), Beijing Modern Music Festival (2004, 2007, & 2009), ISCM-ACL, World Music Days (2007 in Hong Kong), Hong Kong Cadenza (2008 & 2010), UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers (2009 in Paris), The Review of Chinese Symphonic Music in the Past Century and the 2nd China Symphonic Festival – Hebei Performance Week(2010 in Hebei), Singapore International Competition for Chinese Orchestral Composition, Concert and Award Presentation(2011 in Singapore), 29th Asian Composers League Conference and Festival (2011 in Taiwan) … Raymond migrated to Macau in 2002 and is currently a lecturer in the Music School of Macau Polytechnic Institute. TING Chung-wai Brian 丁宗偉 Brian Ting received his Master's degree in music composition from The Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Wendy Lee. He previously studied composition with Prof. Victor Chan and Dr. Lo Hau-man. His music has been premiered by Atlas Ensemble, Hong Kong Kamerata, Trio de TST and Chinese Music Virtuosi. His composition for Chinese Music Virtuosi, "Slashes of Frost and Wind", was awarded both the David Gwilt Composition Prize and audience prize. His composition "Flower Burial under a Pallid Moon" won the second prize in New Generation 2012 organized by Hong Kong Composers' Guild. He is also the recipient of numerous musical awards, including the Bernard van Zuidan Music Prize and the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Scholarship. 丁宗偉現為香港中文大學作曲碩士,師隨李允琪教授。丁氏亦曾跟隨陳偉光教授及盧厚敏博士研習作曲。丁氏的作品曾由Atlas Ensemble, 管樂雅集、TST三重奏及龢鳴樂坊首演。他為龢鳴樂坊而作的作品「風刀霜劍」獲頒紀大衛作曲獎之餘亦被觀眾選為當晚最佳作品。他的「殘月葬花」贏得音樂新一代2012的第二名。他亦獲頒多個獎學金,包括Bernard van Zuidan 音樂獎以及香港作曲家及作詞家協會獎學金。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

As a performer and an improvisor, Dr. Manabe has appeared in the United States, France, England, Germany, Singapore, South Korea and Japan. While having given premiers of the works written by established composers such as Roger Reynolds and James Tenney, she collaborates with composers of the next generations including Nicholas Deyoe, Eric Wubbles, Tomohiro Moriyama, Hibiki Mukai among others. Her recordings have been introduced widely in Europe at several music festivals and schools. Since she moved back to Japan in 2008, she has appeared regularly at the contemporary music concerts of JSCM and JFC as well as of Tokyo-based composer collective, NEXT. In 2018 Composers’ group CUE had their concert featuring Dr. Manabe. In 2006 she won the First Prize at the “Kyogaku VII” (The 7th Contemporary Music Performance Competition founded by Japan Society for Contemporary Music) as the first flute solo winner in their history. In the following year, 2007 she received the 16th Asahi Contemporary Music Award. 間部令子獲桐朋學園(大學)音樂部音樂學士、加州藝術學院藝術碩士、聖地牙哥加州大學音樂藝術博士(現代音樂演奏)。她曾以演奏者及即興演奏者身份於美國、法國、英國、德國、星加坡、南韓及日本演出,並為多首現代作曲家的作品作首演,當中包括成名的作曲家,如 Roger Reynolds, James Tenney,及新一代的作曲家,如 Nicholas Deyoe, Eric Wubbles, 森山知広, 向井響等。她的演奏錄音曾於歐洲的音樂節和學院廣泛播放。2008 年她回流日本,自此活躍於現代音樂界,在日本現代音樂協會和日本作曲家協議会主辦的音樂會中演出,以及和駐於東京的作曲家團體 NEXT 緊密聯繫。2018 年作曲家團體 CUE 舉辦間部令子專場音樂會。2006 年她於「競樂VII」(日本現代音樂協會舉辦的第七屆現代音樂表演比賽)中獲首獎,這是此比賽史上首度由長笛手獲獎。2007 年她獲朝日現代音樂獎。 Reiko Manabe 間部令子 Patrick Yim 嚴天成 Honolulu-born violinist Patrick Yim has performed as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestral violinist throughout the world, including performances in Carnegie Hall and David Geffen Hall (New York), Seoul Arts Center, Harpa Concert Hall (Reykjavik), Hong Kong City Hall, Severance Hall (Cleveland), Orchestra Hall (Chicago), Teatro alla Scala (Milan), and the Musikverein (Vienna). He made his solo debut with the Honolulu Symphony after winning the Honolulu Symphony Concerto Competition. He has performed in the violin sections of the Hawaii Symphony and the Cleveland Orchestra, among others. He joined the Cleveland Orchestra on tours to New York City, Chicago, Bloomington, Iowa City, Miami, and major cities in Europe, including Paris, Milan, Brussels, Luxembourg, Cologne, Munich, and Vienna. Yim has performed chamber music with members of the Juilliard, Emerson, St. Lawrence, Pacifica, and Ying Quartets, and with musicians from the Cleveland Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. He has also performed chamber music in festivals in Canada (Banff and Toronto Summer Music Festival), China, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Iceland, and throughout the United States, including a recent performance in Carnegie Hall with members of the Emerson Quartet. As Guest Music Director of the Collegium Musicum Hong Kong, he collaborated with world-renowned pipa virtuoso Wu Man and performed concerts at the Hong Kong City Hall as violinist and conductor. He has performed world premieres at festivals in the United States and Europe, and he recently curated a series of concerts related to the Silk Road at the Hong Kong Museum of History for which he commissioned and premiered new works for solo violin by Michael-Thomas Foumai (Honolulu), Austin Yip (Hong Kong), and Yao Chen (Beijing). He has performed with the Contemporary Chamber Players (New York) and the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble. Yim has taught violin and chamber music at Stony Brook University, the Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory Department, the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp, the Flatirons Chamber Music Festival, and the Rushmore Music Festival. He has taught masterclasses and workshops in the United States, Denmark, Iceland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China. He is a graduate with honours of the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) where he was a student of David Updegraff and William Preucil and was awarded the First Prize at the Institute’s Darius Milhaud Performance Prize Competition for two consecutive years. At CIM, he studied chamber music with the Cavani Quartet and Peter Salaff of the Cleveland Quartet. He earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Stony Brook University where he studied violin with Philip Setzer, Jennifer Frautschi, and Hagai Shaham, and chamber music with the Emerson Quartet. CHIU Hok-man Elena 趙學文 Pianist-composer Elena Chiu is a highly versatile and vibrant musician. Her adventurous composition pursuits are honed by performing a diverse repertoire at various international platforms. Her ‘Tango’ won the Italy (Treviso) International Contemporary Music Competition in 2012. In recent years, Elena has performed at main concert venues in England, including the BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Festival. Elena graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with MMus piano performance and LRAM in distinction. She then received her doctorate degree in music composition at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the supervision of Professor Victor Chan. Elena's works have been featured at notable festivals and conferences, such as the Royal Academy of Music Summer Piano Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Musicarama, the Asian Composers' League Conference and Festival and many more; her music was performed by the Hong Kong Oratorio Society, Die Konzertisten, Ponte Singers and Orchestra, Taipei Chamber Singers, Anonymous Quartet, Phoenix Quartet, Hong Kong Strings, St. John's Cathedral Choir, Hong Kong Hymn Society, to name a few. Elena's selected choral music is published by the Hong Kong Children's Choir and Alpha & Omega Company. In 2016, Elena worked as composer-in-residence at the Dixie State University in Utah; she was a choir trainer, both as pianist and composer, at the Children’s International Voices of Enfield during her time in London. 趙學文,新一代鋼琴家兼作曲家。憑其全面的技巧和過人創意於國際比賽中屢獲殊榮,曾獲意大利當代音樂 (2012年) 國際作曲比賽冠軍。 英國著名作曲家暨鋼琴家杜格拉斯‧菲泉稱許為「真正的音樂家」,盛讚其獨奏會「引人入勝」。近年,先後於倫敦各大演湊廳演出,並獲邀於英國廣播公司的倫敦夏季逍遙音樂會和奧爾德堡音樂節中演出。趙氏以優異成績於英國皇家音樂學院畢業,取得鋼琴演奏碩士及LRAM文憑,並於中文大學完成音樂作曲博士研究,師隨陳偉光教授。 趙氏的音樂曾在本地及海外發表,包括英國皇家音樂學院夏日消遙鋼琴音樂節、香港藝術節、Musicarama、亞洲作曲家同盟會議及音樂節等,其作品亦曾獲香港聖樂團、Die Konzertisten、本地樂團、台北室內合唱團等團體演奏 , 部分合唱作品並由香港兒童合唱團及Alpha & Omega Company出版。趙氏為美國迪克西州立大學2016年大提琴節的駐校作曲家。在英國期間,趙氏擔任倫敦國際兒童合唱團駐團作曲家及鋼琴伴奏,並參與訓練工作。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back
