First held in 2018, the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival is a biennial event which aims at showcasing our composers’ good musical works. Presenting our own local musical talents and musical performance forces, we encourage innovative musical creations integrating the valuable traditional musical compositional skills aiming at quality music compositions. The Guild commissions local composers especially for the festival and their works are given premiere by both local and international artists.

 

The Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival perpetuates the tradition of the annual international new music festival, Musicarama, which was created based on the New Music Hong Kong Series initiated in 1978, and organised by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild since 1992.
