CHENG Anthony 鄭汝森 Anthony Cheng - a songwriter, film and contemporary music composer, sound engineer and music producer in Hong Kong. His debut on the music scene was as a pianist and composer. As a frequent-awarded composer in multidisciplinary fields of music composition, Cheng’s music consists of an eclectic inspiration of a variety of musical styles. Cheng completed his master degree in music at King's College, London and Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong. His former composition teachers include Dr. Joshua Chan at HKU, Dr. Silvina Milstein and Professor Sir Harrison Birtwistle at King's. He was a pupil of Denise Ham in orchestral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. His compositions have been performed internationally at ISCM (Hong Kong 2002), Asia Ocarina Festival (Japan 2012; Taiwan 2016), Musicacoustica-Beijing (Beijing 2014, 2017), IDRS (Tokyo 2015), and in various countries and cities such as Hong Kong, Macau, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Cheng also appeared as composer and conductor with ensembles and orchestras including London University Symphony Orchestra, Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra, HKU Union Philharmonic Orchestra, Lontano (UK) and King’s Harmonica Quintet (HK). Besides, Cheng has been frequently commissioned to write new works by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, Music Office LCSD, several music affiliations and independent artists/musicians. CHENG Lee 鄭重言 Lee Cheng is an interdisciplinary artist-teacher and researcher. His research and artistic interest interdisciplinarize music, technology, education, immersive and interactive media, digital and sonic arts, law and policy. His works have been featured as part of, amongst others, International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA), International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), World Stage Design, and Mana Contemporary Chicago; his research articles have been published by top-ranked journals including Music Education Research, Journal of Knowledge Management, Technology, Pedagogy and Education. Cheng received his Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Law, Postgraduate Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). He also attained the LTCL for flute (Distinction) and LMusTCL at London Trinity College, and DipABRSM (Principles of Instrumental Teaching) at Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). He is currently working as Assistant Professor of the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts at The Education University of Hong Kong. TING Chung-wai Brian 丁宗偉 Brian Ting received his Master's degree in music composition from The Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Wendy Lee. He previously studied composition with Prof. Victor Chan and Dr. Lo Hau-man. His music has been premiered by Atlas Ensemble, Hong Kong Kamerata, Trio de TST and Chinese Music Virtuosi. His composition for Chinese Music Virtuosi, "Slashes of Frost and Wind", was awarded both the David Gwilt Composition Prize and audience prize. His composition "Flower Burial under a Pallid Moon" won the second prize in New Generation 2012 organized by Hong Kong Composers' Guild. He is also the recipient of numerous musical awards, including the Bernard van Zuidan Music Prize and the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Scholarship. 丁宗偉現為香港中文大學作曲碩士，師隨李允琪教授。丁氏亦曾跟隨陳偉光教授及盧厚敏博士研習作曲。丁氏的作品曾由Atlas Ensemble, 管樂雅集、TST三重奏及龢鳴樂坊首演。他為龢鳴樂坊而作的作品「風刀霜劍」獲頒紀大衛作曲獎之餘亦被觀眾選為當晚最佳作品。他的「殘月葬花」贏得音樂新一代2012的第二名。他亦獲頒多個獎學金，包括Bernard van Zuidan 音樂獎以及香港作曲家及作詞家協會獎學金。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

YIP Shu-kin Stephen 葉樹堅 Stephen Yip’s music have been described as post-modernist in style, with Asian roots, gives the inner colors of an advanced spatial sense....... Yip was born in Hong Kong and now living in U.S.A. He received his doctor of musical arts (D.M.A.) at Rice University and bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studied with Law Wing-fai, Clarence Mak, and Arthur Gottschalk. He has attended major music festivals including: Wellesley Composers Conference, Aspen Music Festival, Asian Composers’ League, ISCM World Music Days, Chinese Composers’ Festival, IMPULS Ensemble Akademie, Luxembourg, the International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt, Germany, Wellesley Composers’ Conference. Residencies include: the Atlantic Centre for the Arts, Yaddo Colony and MacDowell Colony. Yip’s works have been performed in the Asia, Europe and America. He has received several composition prizes, included “Salvatore Martirano Memorial Composition Award”, “Taiwan Music Center International Composition Prize”, “Robert Avalon International Prize”, “Singapore International Composition Competition for Chinese Orchestra”, the ALEA III composition Competition, and the 2010 Alvarez Chamber Orchestra Freestyle Composition Competition, London, England. His works are recorded in the ERM-Media, PARMA, Capstone, North South recording, Ablaze records, ATMA Classique, and Beauport Classical labels. Yip is a member of the SCI, NACUSA, and ASCAP. LAM Kin-yee Gabriel 林建兒 Lam is a contemporary composer and conductor, music director of 2 Proclaim Production, full member of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild Ltd., Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong. He was a electronic music lecturer of The Baptist Theological Seminary, and was a music lecturer of Full Time Worker Training Theological Seminary. Adjudicator of the «Schools Creative Music Showcase» at Arts Education Section CDI, EDB; one of the author of the «Chinese Symphonic Music Expo». 2012 as a inverted editor of “Chinese Christian Literature Council Ltd.” Lam was an active conductor and arranger of varies school orchestras. He participated in different schools’ compositional schemes as an instructor. Recently, He focus in the conducting of different choirs, such as he was the conductor of “God With Us Assembly”, was the conductor and director of “Tun Mun Alliance church’s Choir”. 2005 became the reorganised conductor of “Christian Choral Society of Hong Kong”; he was the conductor and arranger of “The Chamber Orchestra of Evangelical Free Church of China”. 2004 became the conductor of “Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kau Yan Church’s Choir” until now. Lam had, for a number of years committed to composing, arranging and producing tapes and CDs for Christian organisations. "What Is Man" is one of his early compositions. Founding members violinist Le Hoai-nam, violist Elvis Chan and cellist Laurent Perrin are committed to introducing the rich world of chamber music, including some of the most profound and powerful music ever written, to music lovers in Hong Kong and beyond. HKCC is now the biggest choir in the world and has grown into a diversified arts organization for children. HKCC is invited to perform overseas each year, spreading the message of love and peace in different parts of the world. The Choir has been well received and appreciated in many countries, gaining an international reputation as the “Little Goodwill Singing Ambassadors” and “one of the best children’s choirs in the world”. HKCC was named “China’s Top Ten Children Chorus” in 2003 and won the prestigious “Award of the Audience” at the “Vivace 2006 International Choir Festival” in Hungary. In 2008, the choir was awarded the “Gold Cup” from “Shanghai International Children’s Chorus Festival”. In 2014, HKCC is selected by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) as one of the IFCM Ambassadors for 2013 to 2015. The Choir was invited to perform in the 2014 “10th World Symposium on Choral Music” in South Korea and 2015 “The 1st IFCM World Choral Expo” in Macau. Led by Music Director Felix Yeung and Resident Conductor Sanders Lau, DK performs with the greatest commitment repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony and Baroque masterpieces, to Romantic delicacies and newly commissioned works by composers in the region. DK aims to bring the finest of artistic experiences to local audiences. The choir regularly brings in internationally renowned musicians, including conductors Helmuth Rilling (Bach Mass in B minor), Stephen Layton (Mozart Requiem), Jonathan Cohen (Handel Israel in Egypt and Messiah), Nicholas Cleobury (Rutter Requiem, Chilcott Requiem), Chen Yun-hung (contemporary works by Chinese composers) and countertenor Iestyn Davies (Bernstein Chichester Psalms, Pergolesi Stabat Mater). The choir’s artistic accomplishments have led to invitations of collaboration from eminent artists and organisations local and abroad. DK has repeatedly appeared in Hong Kong Arts Festival’s programmes, most notably a series of concerts in celebration of Benjamin Britten’s centenary in 2013. The choir has also appeared in two of the Festival’s PLUS programmes in 2016. The choir was featured for four consecutive years in the broadcasted RTHK 4 Christmas in the Park concert. Hong Kong Composers’ Guild invited the choir to perform in its Musicarama Festival and Chinese Composers’ Festival in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Performances with Hong Kong Sinfonietta (Faure Requiem) and Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra (Karl Jenkins Requiem) were both critically acclaimed. In February 2015, DK was invited by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office to perform at the Victoria Theatre in Singapore. A keen advocate of Baroque music, the group joins hand with Early Music Society of Hong Kong in forming the first-ever local Baroque orchestra, Cammer Musicus, for the performance of Handel’s masterpiece Messiah in December 2015. Under the baton of its own Felix Yeung, DK has previously performed J.S. Bach St. Matthew Passion with an all-local cast of soloists, Buxtehude Membra Jesu Nostri with period instrument ensemble of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, and Purcell Dido and Aeneas with Professor Lo King-man as director. DK also ardently supports local young musicians through its Apprentice Scheme and Young Talents Series. She was a recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award. She currently teaches piano at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is often invited to host music talks and masterclasses, and to serve as a juror for piano competitions. Loo attended the Juilliard School on scholarship, where she studied with Adele Marcus. After graduating with a Master’s degree, she studied with Vlado Perlemuter in Paris and Guido Agosti in Italy. She was first-prize winner at the Fourth Rina Sala Gallo International Competition in Monza, and has won many other international competitions, including the Marguerite Long International Competition in Paris. As a pianist, Loo has given solo recitals and performed with orchestras in England, Europe, North America and Asia. Locally, she has appeared in the Hong Kong Arts Festival Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. A keen promoter of contemporary music, she has participated in the annual Musicarama and the ISCM World Music Days Festival. She has also played the piano part for the soundtrack of several Hong Kong films and television series. Highly acclaimed for her piano playing, Wu is said to surprise with “her musical variety, profundity and sensitivity” by Vlado Perlemuter and “…a captivating poetical quality to her playing” by the late Lord Menuhin. She has performed in many of the world’s major concert halls and with international orchestras and chamber musicians. She has performed with the late Vlado Perlemuter in Queen Elizabeth Hall in UK, and with the late Lord Menuhin in UK, France and Germany. She is also a founding member of the Bauhinia Piano Trio formed in 1995. She has recorded for the BMG, ASV, Dutton Sound, Paradisum and Hugo, CFM Deutschland and Universal labels that include solo and chamber music by classical and contemporary composers. She recently gave all-Ravel programmes in many major concert halls in China under the invitation of Alliance Francaise China. Her prizes include the Clavichord and Harpsichord Prizes; Chappell Gold Medal - the most prestigious pianist prize given at the Royal College of Music; first prizes at the London Royal Overseas-League Music Competition and the Mozart Bicentenary International Piano Competition of Asia. She has performed as a soloist with the Polish Gdansk Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary Symphony Orchestra in Canada, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Macau Orquestra Camarata and the Singapore Chinese Orchestra. She completed her doctoral degree at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA. Her teachers include Betty Drown, Peter Norris, Louis Kentner, Vlado Perlemuter, Kendall-Taylor, Gilbert Kalish and Constance Wu. She has been the artist-in-residence at the Chinese University of Hong Kong for many years and is currently a faculty member at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, Baptist University and Chinese University. Wu was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Awardees Hong Kong in 2003 and the ADC Best Artist of the Year 2010 award.
