WONG Chun Wai 黃俊諱 Wong Chun-wai has a versatile composition profile comprising concert music, musicals and film scores. He often infuses different musical languages to evoke various atmospheres and sceneries, engaging audiences with a quasi-multimedia-art experience. More recently he is developing the idea of “21st century (late) Romanticism”, with various contemporary musical ideas and techniques incorporated into the (Late) Romantic musical language. Published and winning multiple awards across the globe, his compositions are featured in international events such as the International Rostrum of Composers, ISCM World Music Days, ACL (Asian Composers League) Festival and the Asian Youth Orchestra World Tour. His music is performed and recorded by prominent groups and musicians including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (with Jaap van Zweden, Bright Sheng, Sebastian Perłowski and others), Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie (IEMA), performers from the New York Philharmonic and soloists including Dong-Suk Kang and Jan-Erik Gustafsson. Recently he commissioned a Double Concerto by maestro Jaap van Zweden for his 60th birthday. His scores for films and advertisements are featured in international festivals including the Sound and Image Challenge Festival and Pink City International Short Film Festival, as well as on local platforms including Cable TV and Viu TV. Wong is also an active arranger. He has arranged a number of vocal and instrumental music, some of which are performed by renowned artists and singers such as Nick Vujicic, Rebecca Pan Di-hua and Harry Wong. TANG Hoi Ching Katie 滕鎧晴 Katie is currently studying at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts major in Composition and Electronic Music. Katie is enthusiastic in exploring the relationship of human and nature, thus the relationship of physics and philosophy in the form of art. She is keen on discussing the purpose of life, imagination of utopianism, reality and physics elements that could not be seen with human eye. Her music focused on the timbre of different instrumental sounds and attempted to explore different combination of sound spectrum played by different instruments. She aims to create a musical space for audience to rethink their innatism and stimulates creative imagination that could be brought to our daily life. Her music has been performed by the Academy’s contemporary ensemble and the Academy choir. She has also been selected to participate the music festival “SoundMine 2022” in Belgium in summer 2022 in tuition by Prof. Wim Henderickx, Professor of composition in Antwerp and Amsterdam. CHOW Lora 周曉晴 Award-winning composer and coloratura soprano Lora Chow is celebrated for her cross-cultural musical innovation. Born in Hong Kong, she graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with a double major in Music and Economics, subsequently refining her craft under Hollywood composers Christopher Young, Patrick Kirst, and Lawrence Shragge. Chow’s pioneering compositions – spanning orchestral, chamber, vocal, and film genres have lyrical melodies in a unique voice. Her works have been premiered by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (Exsultate, Jubilate , 2018; Sympathy, 2019; Awakening for Soprano/Piano/Harp and Orchestra , 2024; Sleepless Moon Medley , 2025), Orchestra della Toscana (film score The Notting Hill Finale ), Sofia Sinfonietta , and Budapest Scoring Orchestra . Universal Edition publishes her scores, while Prima Classic releases her piano recordings. Her major works include the musical Dr. Clown , the East-West opera Sleepless Moon , Cantonese opera Ambush from All Sides , and piano albums Reveries on Ivories and Pursuits from the Roots . Her accolades include the Chigiana Film Scoring Award for Best Storytelling (2024), CASH Golden Sail Award Top 5 Best Young Composer , Cole Porter Fellowship in Music and Theater , Anita Hewitt-Jones Composition Prize , and Louis Sudler Creative and Performing Arts Award . Chow was the former Associate Music Director at Shanghai Disney . She appears as Soprano Fellow with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra . CHAN Nga Man 陳雅雯 Born in Hong Kong, CHAN Nga-man obtained her undergraduate degree double majoring in Music and Media & Cultural Studies in the University of Hong Kong. In recognition of her outstanding academic performances at university, Chan received the HKU Worldwide Exchange Scholarship for her exchange to the Queen’s University, Kingston in 2010. Chan was also awarded the Hong Kong Children’s Choir Scholarship and the Bernard van Zuiden Music Prize. Chan is now the member of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH) and the Hong Kong Composer’s Guild. Chan’s works have been widely performed in different places including Hong Kong, Taiwan and the U.S. She won the ACUVUE® NATURAL REMIX competition in 2013. In 2014, her soundscape music Vast Littleness was commissioned by Hong Kong Loksum Chinese Orchestra with sponsorship from CASH Music Fund. Her composition Command in the Rain entered the final of the New Generation 2015, performed by Chinese Music Virtuosi and was broadcasted in Radio 4 of Radio and Television Hong Kong (RTHK). The music also entered the Music From the Heart 2016 of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. Her work In June was premiered in Nief-Norf Music Festival 2015 in US. Besides instrumental music, she also composes music for short movies, drama and dance. In 2014, she scored music for micro film , which has awarded the best micro film of M21 Competition. In 2015, Chan worked with Lok Sum Chinese Orchestra for a multimedia show crossed over music, movie and dance. In September 2015, Chan presented her own concert "Music Puzzle Concert" and received positive feedback and recognition. Audiences were impressed by the creative idea and interactive introduction of new music. Chan also works in the popular music industry, she is the songwriter of Firesonic Records, she has written song for alternative music singer Aifi and Chinee, which are publised and have been radio-broadcasted. Her music are sold in different music platform, including iTunes, KKbox, Moov and Omusic. CHANG Herbert# 張海伯 Born in 1948, California, U.S.A. In 1959, at age 11, Chang entered Chinese Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. The study started from elementary and then high school. In 1966, the Cultural Revolution interrupted his study, and in 1968, he was sent to Tianjing Gegu Farm to receive re-education. He grew rice there. Three and half years later, the government assigned him a violinist position in the Chinese Central Ballet, which at that time was a model troupe of Mao’s wife. In 1978, he was transferred back to the Central Conservatory to teach at the high school department. In 1979, Chang returned to the U.S, and studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Currently, he is a violin teacher in the U.S, and also a composer with two violin text books published by Mel Bay Music Publications; “Forty Studies for Violin” and “Daily Scale Exercises for Violin”. 於1948年出生於美國加利福尼。 （父母均為留美學生）1959年進入中央音樂學院附小, 然後附中學習。 1966年文化大革命爆發，學業停止。 1968年被送到天津葛沽農場接受“再教育”。張在農場種水稻。 1972年被分配到中央芭蕾舞團工作。 （當時是江青的樣板團）於1978年被調回中央音樂學院附中任教。 1979年赴美。 1979到1982年在美國舊金山音樂學院學習。現在在美國做小提琴教師並且從事音樂創作。在美國出版了“小提琴練習曲40首”，和“小提琴每日音階練習”兩部著作。 （由美國 Mel Bay 公司出版）最近完成了“特出小提琴技術練習”一書以及一些樂曲，其中包括小提琴獨奏曲8首，中提琴獨奏曲1首，大提琴獨奏曲1首，弦樂四重奏一部。 （4個樂章） MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Two violin text-books have been published in the U.S. They are “Forty Studies for Violin” and “Daily Scale Exercises for Violin”.
