TUNG Lai-shing 董麗誠 Hong Kong composer Tung Lai Shing is among the first generation of graduates from the Music Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the 70s. He went on to pursue his study in composition at the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied with George Crumb and obtained his PhD. His major compositions include the Book of Laughter and Forgetting for symphonic orchestra and Cantonese Opera singer, commissioned and premiered by the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. 香港作曲家董麗誠為1970年代香港中文大學音樂系第一代畢業學生之一。其後赴笈美國賓歹凡尼亞大學繼續進修作曲，在喬治．克拉姆的指導下完成作曲（哲學）博士課程。其主要作品包括由香港小交響樂團委約、為管弦樂團及粵劇演員而寫的《笑忘書》。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

Mountain Chain 《山脈》 Cheung Hei-lam 張希琳 Cheung Hei-lam is a year two student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in music composition and electronic music. She is currently learning from Dr. Florence Cheung Pui-shan. Her works include chamber music, film music and electronic music. This piece is inspired by the topography of mountain range. The music uses the contrast between long notes and staccato, also the rise and fall, and continuous phrases to imitate mountain chain formed by many ridges and valleys. Previous Next

TSANG Shun-han 曾淳頎 TSANG Shun-han, Hanson holds a Master of Arts in Music and Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong respectively. He studied percussion and timpani under the tutelage of Mr. LUK Kin-bun and Mr. James BOZNOS, studied flute under the tutelage of Mr. Matthew WU. He is also a member of Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Composers Guild. During his studies in EdUHK, Tsang was awarded the Year Prize of Academic Excellence, Champion of Artistic Composition Award and Performance Award as well as Outstanding Contribution Award. He was one of the awardees of HKIEd Student Representation in Oversea Activities Award and the award scheme enabled him to participate in various international music events, including the International Band Festival (WASBE), Conference of the Asia and Pacific Band Directors Association (APBDA), International Symposium of Music Education, International Handbell Symposium, International Orff Music Camp, International Dalcroze and Music Therapy Workshop. Tsang is currently the Assistant Music Officer in the Music Office of LCSD and is responsible for western percussion training as well as Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band and Music Office Youth Brass Band. LAI Sheung-ping 黎尚冰 Dr. Sheung-Ping Lai is an Assistant Professor at the CCA Department, HKIED where she teaches music composition, music theory, composition pedagogy, contemporary music, and jazz study. Dr. Lai is an active composer. Her music covers a wide variety of genres and styles, and her compositions are frequently performed in public, including Western and Chinese instrumental music, electronic music, theatrical music, art songs, pop songs, choral jazz and instrumental jazz, presenting a unique synthesis of the East and the West. Her research interests include music composition, music theory, composition pedagogy, contemporary music, jazz, and cross-cultural studies of Chinese and Western music. She is the Secretary (Administration) of Hong Kong Composers’ Guild where she coordinates the annual New Generation Concert for young composers. LEUNG Hin-yan Austin 梁騫仁 Leung is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He is currently studying aboard. Leung has composed a number of pieces for Chinese instruments. Most of them features the guzheng as a solo instrument. Leung’s recent guzheng pieces includes Sailing, Along the Heart of Remembrance for guzheng and string quartet, Renovated Tradition for guzheng and 15 Chinese instruments and A City Lost/Tranquil times for guzheng and Chinese orchestra. CHAN Chin-ting# 陳展霆 Composer Chin Ting (Patrick) CHAN (b. 1986) has held faculty positions at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and Kansas City Kansas Community College. His music has been featured throughout the North and South Americas, Europe and Asia; at festivals such as the International Computer Music Conference, the International Rostrum of Composers, IRCAM’s ManiFeste, June in Buffalo and the Wellesley Composers Conference, among many others. YUNG Sin-kan Bonnie 翁蒨懃 Full of tension and unpredictability, Yung Sin-K=kan Bonnie’s music often draws inspiration from tiny moments of daily life, and yet there is no lack of philosophical notions in her music. Born and raised in Hong Kong, a multicultural city, her music is well-articulated and daring, often filled with great polarities. Her experience in Estonia and her interest in poetry and literature adds a distinctive taste to her music. Yung has been selected by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to participate in the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Composers Scheme. She was also commissioned by Hong Kong Baptist University Choir and has collaborated with Placard Quintet, ESTICA Quintet, and various ensembles in Hong Kong and Europe. Yung obtained her Master’s degree in Music (Classical Composition) cum laude at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre under the tutelage of Toivo Tulev, and Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Music (First Honour) at Hong Kong Baptist University under the tutelage of Eugene Birman. SHIU Wai Yau William 邵偉祐 SHIU Wai Yau, William is a Hong Kong-born composer, conductor and performer of piano, clarinet and French Horn. William obtained a master’s degree in music composition under the guidance of Jesse Broekman at KASK & Conservatorium, Ghent, Belgium. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Composition from Hong Kong Baptist University, studying from Christopher Keyes and Camilo Mendez. William’s compositions span a wide range of genres from chamber ensembles, orchestra, open-form to multimedia works. His music has been performed and exhibited in Hong Kong, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, etc. Ensemble/organisation William have collaborated with including K622 Clarinet Ensembles (Hong Kong)、Orkest de Ereprijs (Netherlands)、Cello Wercken Zutphen (Netherlands) and Peter Benoit Fonds (Belgium). In 2024, he was awarded the Ereprijs Xtra commission to compose a new work for the 2025 Andriessen Festival. In addition to composing, William has studied orchestral conducting with CHOI Ho Man and Kristiina Poska at HKBU and KASK & Conservatorium respectively. He participated the conducting masterclass by Symfonie Orkest Vlaanderen (Belgium). He is also actively involved in conducting new music and is an accomplished arranger of folk music and popular works from Hong Kong and Belgium. Ensemble William have arranged for including Men of Winds, Shinywinds, Cyber Symphonic Winds, Sforzando Wind Ensemble (Hong Kong), Gents Universitair Harmonie Orkest (Belgium). William was the young ambassador of Belgian National Orchestra in 2023-24 for the promotion of classical orchestral music. In 2025 he formed 'The Maniacs'. The ensemble Interprets any crazy ideas 'hilariously but seriously' from sound-based performances. They regularly perform innovative and bold contemporary music works around the world, alongside new compositions by local composers. It is a platform to promote their music and offers a broader artistic vision to the audience. 邵偉祐是香港作曲、指揮家，以及鋼琴、單簧管和法國號樂手。邵氏畢業於比利時根特藝術學院作曲碩士及香港浸會大學音樂文學士（作曲主修），在校分別師承Jesse Broekman、祈道緯教授和Camilo Mendez。 他的作品涵蓋室內樂、管弦樂、開放形式作品、到多媒體作品等多種聲音創作種類，並曾於香港、荷蘭、比利時、和葡萄牙等地展出或演出。合作過的團體包括K622 Clarinet Ensembles (香港)、Orkest de Ereprijs (荷蘭)、Cello Wercken Zutphen (荷蘭)及 Peter Benoit Fonds (比利時)等。2024 年他更獲得荷蘭現代音樂樂團Orkest de Ereprijs委約，於2025年Andriessen Festival中創作全新管弦樂作品。 作曲以外，偉祐曾師承蔡浩文先生及Kristiina Poska學習管弦樂團指揮，並曾參與Flanders Symphonic Orchestra指揮大師班（比利時），他熱衷於指揮當代音樂及改編香港和比利時的流行音樂與民歌，其曾經合作之樂團包括五十男樂團、眾樂團、香港網樂管樂團、聲大夾樂管樂社（香港）、根特大學管樂團（比利時）等。在比利時留學期間他曾於Belgian National Orchestra擔任青年大使，推廣管弦樂團音樂。 於2025年由他所成立之「香港狂人樂團」，以「狂而不妄」為原則，透過聲音為主的演出，認真地表達各種天馬行空的想法。樂團定期演奏世界各地創新而大膽的當代音樂作品，結合本地作曲家全新作品，提供一個平台推廣他們的音樂，為觀眾帶來更廣闊的藝術視野。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 26. LAM Kin-yee Gabriel 林建兒 Lam is a contemporary composer and conductor, music director of 2 Proclaim Production, full member of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild Ltd., Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong. He was a electronic music lecturer of The Baptist Theological Seminary, and was a music lecturer of Full Time Worker Training Theological Seminary. Adjudicator of the «Schools Creative Music Showcase» at Arts Education Section CDI, EDB; one of the author of the «Chinese Symphonic Music Expo». 2012 as a inverted editor of “Chinese Christian Literature Council Ltd.” Lam was an active conductor and arranger of varies school orchestras. He participated in different schools’ compositional schemes as an instructor. Recently, He focus in the conducting of different choirs, such as he was the conductor of “God With Us Assembly”, was the conductor and director of “Tun Mun Alliance church’s Choir”. 2005 became the reorganised conductor of “Christian Choral Society of Hong Kong”; he was the conductor and arranger of “The Chamber Orchestra of Evangelical Free Church of China”. 2004 became the conductor of “Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kau Yan Church’s Choir” until now. Lam had, for a number of years committed to composing, arranging and producing tapes and CDs for Christian organisations. "What Is Man" is one of his early compositions.
