TING Chung Wai Brian 丁宗偉 Brian Ting received his Master's degree in music composition from The Chinese University of Hong Kong under the supervision of Prof. Wendy Lee. He previously studied composition with Prof. Victor Chan and Dr. Lo Hau-man. His music has been premiered by Atlas Ensemble, Hong Kong Kamerata, Trio de TST and Chinese Music Virtuosi. His composition for Chinese Music Virtuosi, "Slashes of Frost and Wind", was awarded both the David Gwilt Composition Prize and audience prize. His composition "Flower Burial under a Pallid Moon" won the second prize in New Generation 2012 organized by Hong Kong Composers' Guild. He is also the recipient of numerous musical awards, including the Bernard van Zuidan Music Prize and the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Scholarship. 丁宗偉現為香港中文大學作曲碩士,師隨李允琪教授。丁氏亦曾跟隨陳偉光教授及盧厚敏博士研習作曲。丁氏的作品曾由Atlas Ensemble, 管樂雅集、TST三重奏及龢鳴樂坊首演。他為龢鳴樂坊而作的作品「風刀霜劍」獲頒紀大衛作曲獎之餘亦被觀眾選為當晚最佳作品。他的「殘月葬花」贏得音樂新一代2012的第二名。他亦獲頒多個獎學金,包括Bernard van Zuidan 音樂獎以及香港作曲家及作詞家協會獎學金。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

Transcending Music Legacy Hong Kong Composers’ Guild (HKCG) is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. To mark this special occasion and to share our music creativity and musical ideas of the past four decades to the public, HKCG is proud to present the Transcending Music Legacy. Original compositions selected by HKCG will be showcased in the following concerts: 1. Concert with Nova Ensemble 2. Concert with Hong Kong Gaudeamus Dunhuang Ensemble; and 3. Concert with The Hong Kong Children’s Choir A total of 26 contemporary music will be featured in this festival, with 3 commissioned pieces composed by local composers Stephen Yip, Chan Ming Chi and Chan Kai Young. - LEUNG Chi Cheung 梁志鏘 | Hong Kong Composers' Guild
LEUNG Chi Cheung 梁志鏘 Composer, conductor and educator, Leung studied music majoring in composition (BMus & MMus) in the United States of America (University of North Texas), and received his PGDE and PhD in Hong Kong (Chinese University of Hong Kong) and Australia (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University) respectively. His first original composition Hope for 12 Chinese instruments, won him the First Prize in the Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Award in 1985. He also received the Pi Kappa Lambda Composition Award in 1989. His music compositions have been performed in Singapore, Japan, China, South Korea, Austria and USA by various professional groups and artists. He was invited to present in concerts featuring solely his compositions respectively in the Asian Arts Festival 2009 (USA) and the Aomori Museum of Art (Japan) 2010. His works were critiqued as “brilliant”, “unorthodox”, “creative”, “fresh, colourful, and intriguing”, “intermingling elements of the East and the West”, “highlighting the traditional Chinese value and life wisdom”, “with profound humanistic sympathy” and “speak to a positive international vision”. In 1974, he founded the Yao Yueh Chinese Music Orchestra and was the founding conductor. He was appointed Music Director in 2007. Under his directorship, he has commissioned over 30 new works by Hong Kong composers. He also premiered conducted works by renowned composers such as Samson Young, Alfred Wong, Austin Yip etc. Leung has wide research interests which cover creative industries, music education and Chinese music. CHIU Hok Man Elena 趙學文 Pianist-composer Elena Chiu is a highly versatile and vibrant musician. Her adventurous composition pursuits are honed by performing a diverse repertoire at various international platforms. Her ‘Tango’ won the Italy (Treviso) International Contemporary Music Competition in 2012. In recent years, Elena has performed at main concert venues in England, including the BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Festival. Elena graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London with MMus piano performance and LRAM in distinction. She then received her doctorate degree in music composition at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the supervision of Professor Victor Chan. Elena's works have been featured at notable festivals and conferences, such as the Royal Academy of Music Summer Piano Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, Musicarama, the Asian Composers' League Conference and Festival and many more; her music was performed by the Hong Kong Oratorio Society, Die Konzertisten, Ponte Singers and Orchestra, Taipei Chamber Singers, Anonymous Quartet, Phoenix Quartet, Hong Kong Strings, St. John's Cathedral Choir, Hong Kong Hymn Society, to name a few. Elena's selected choral music is published by the Hong Kong Children's Choir and Alpha & Omega Company. In 2016, Elena worked as composer-in-residence at the Dixie State University in Utah; she was a choir trainer, both as pianist and composer, at the Children’s International Voices of Enfield during her time in London. 趙學文,新一代鋼琴家兼作曲家。憑其全面的技巧和過人創意於國際比賽中屢獲殊榮,曾獲意大利當代音樂 (2012年) 國際作曲比賽冠軍。 英國著名作曲家暨鋼琴家杜格拉斯‧菲泉稱許為「真正的音樂家」,盛讚其獨奏會「引人入勝」。近年,先後於倫敦各大演湊廳演出,並獲邀於英國廣播公司的倫敦夏季逍遙音樂會和奧爾德堡音樂節中演出。趙氏以優異成績於英國皇家音樂學院畢業,取得鋼琴演奏碩士及LRAM文憑,並於中文大學完成音樂作曲博士研究,師隨陳偉光教授。 趙氏的音樂曾在本地及海外發表,包括英國皇家音樂學院夏日消遙鋼琴音樂節、香港藝術節、Musicarama、亞洲作曲家同盟會議及音樂節等,其作品亦曾獲香港聖樂團、Die Konzertisten、本地樂團、台北室內合唱團等團體演奏 , 部分合唱作品並由香港兒童合唱團及Alpha & Omega Company出版。趙氏為美國迪克西州立大學2016年大提琴節的駐校作曲家。在英國期間,趙氏擔任倫敦國際兒童合唱團駐團作曲家及鋼琴伴奏,並參與訓練工作。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

CHENG Anthony 鄭汝森 Anthony Cheng - a songwriter, film and contemporary music composer, sound engineer and music producer in Hong Kong. His debut on the music scene was as a pianist and composer. As a frequent-awarded composer in multidisciplinary fields of music composition, Cheng’s music consists of an eclectic inspiration of a variety of musical styles. Cheng completed his master degree in music at King's College, London and Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong. His former composition teachers include Dr. Joshua Chan at HKU, Dr. Silvina Milstein and Professor Sir Harrison Birtwistle at King's. He was a pupil of Denise Ham in orchestral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. His compositions have been performed internationally at ISCM (Hong Kong 2002), Asia Ocarina Festival (Japan 2012; Taiwan 2016), Musicacoustica-Beijing (Beijing 2014, 2017), IDRS (Tokyo 2015), and in various countries and cities such as Hong Kong, Macau, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Cheng also appeared as composer and conductor with ensembles and orchestras including London University Symphony Orchestra, Surrey Philharmonic Orchestra (UK), Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra, HKU Union Philharmonic Orchestra, Lontano (UK) and King’s Harmonica Quintet (HK). Besides, Cheng has been frequently commissioned to write new works by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild, Music Office LCSD, several music affiliations and independent artists/musicians. SO Ka Wai 蘇家威 So Ka-wai is a clarinetist and composer. He started learning clarinet from the age of thirteen with Mr. Cheung Wan, Mr. Andrew Simon and Mr. Martin Choy Kwok-tin while performed in the master-class conducted by Dr. David Pino during studying undergraduate at HKBU. He was also a member of Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band and the Klappen Ensemble. He is now the concertmaster of the Parsons Wind Orchestra. He obtained both undergraduate and M.Phil degree at Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring music composition under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Keyes and Dr. Christopher Coleman. He actively composed different kinds of music, including electro-acoustic piece Waterscape, his wind orchestra suite Four Supernatural Constellations, clarinet work Dream, oboe solo Volans and percussion quartet In the Dream of Ancient Path. His works were performed frequently in local and overseas, such as Japan, Taiwan and Scotland.
