Li Cheuk Shing (Sampson) 李焯誠 Sampson's compositions have been recognized internationally. His recognitions include winning the 2023 JACK Studio (JACK Quartet) , the Barcelona Modern International Composition Course Call , Toolbox Percussion International Composition Competition, Hong Kong New Music Ensemble Sonic-Visual Interplay (CoLab) Call . He was also a finalist in the Hong Kong Composers' Guild New Generation Competition (2022 and 2023) and a recipient of scholarships such as the David M. Schimmel Memorial Composition Scholarship Fund and the Dr. Paul Gregory Bonneau Memorial Composition Scholarship in 2024. His works have been performed by ensembles like the Barcelona Modern Ensemble , New Morse Code , Romer Quartet , Dawning Quartet , Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, Passepartout Duo, Ensemble Dal Niente, [Switch~ Ensemble] and JACK Quartet. They have been featured in renowned festivals, including the Barcelona Modern Festival, the June in Buffalo and the Toolbox International Creative Academy Festival. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in music composition at the University of North Texas , where he studies with Panayiotis Kokoras and Jon Nelson . CHEUNG Pui-shan 張珮珊 Pui-shan CHEUNG is prize winner of many international and national composition competitions. Described as "beautiful sounds with abrupt intrusions of jagged explosive ideas." (Peninsula Review). Her music has been performed by Gothenburg Opera Symphony Orchestra, Estonia National Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Shen Zhen Symphony Orchestra, UMKC Symphony Orchestra, HKAPA Academy Orchestra, as well as Stockholm Saxophone Quartet (Sweden), Darmstadt Trio (Germany), Reconcil Ensemble (Vienna), Saxcess Saxophone Quartet (New Zealand), TIMF (Korea), Pacific Sounding Ensemble (Japan), Eighth Black-bird (U.S.A.), Empyrean Ensemble (San Francisco), Liberace Woodwind Quintet (Kansas City), Wuji Chinese Plucked-string Music Ensemble (H.K.) and etc. Pui-shan has received number of awards and prizes, including the first prize in the II International Lepo Sumera Composition Contest in Tallinn, Estonia, third prize in the International Music Prize Luxembourg in Luxembourg, Libby Larsen Prize in the International Alliance for Women in Music Search for New Music by Women Composers Composition Contest, special prize in the IBLA World Competition in Italy, first prize in the University of Missouri, Kansas City (UMKC), Orchestral Composition Competition, first prize in the UMKC Chamber Music Composition Competition and two regional prizes in the SCI/ASCAP Composition Commission Program. She has held residency at the Atlantic Centre for the Arts and Wuji Chinese-plucked Music Ensemble. LEUNG Hong-yu 梁康裕 Leung Hong-yu is a second-year undergraduate student at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). His compositions are mainly in the contemporary style. His work Echoes of Spring was selected for the ‘New Generation 2020 Call for Scores’ organized by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. Anechoic Scream and Deadline Jitters were selected for the CUHK Ensemble-in-Residence 2020 - 2021 and 2019 - 2020 respectively. Apart from Western music, Leung has forayed into composing Chinese music. In 2020, his Night Thoughts premiered on the 5G live broadcasting concert ‘Music from the Heart’. It was followed by Pureness and Finding the Light , which were selected for the ‘HKCO Net Festival – With New Tunes, We Connect’. Leung is now majoring in violin under the tutelage of Goh Ching. NG Chun-hoi Daniel 吳俊凱 Ng Chun Hoi, Daniel serves as a music educator, composer and music critic. Ng studied composition with David Gwilt at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and with Anne Boyd and Doming Lam at the University of Hong Kong. He also undertook research in Chinese music and teacher education and obtained his doctoral degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Ng has taught music courses such as theory and composition, music education and Chinese music at various institutions including the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts and the Hong Kong Music Institute. He is often commissioned for new works by different organizations and a number of his work has been performed and broadcast in Hong Kong and overseas. - WONG Chun-wai 黃俊諱 | Hong Kong Composers' Guild
WONG Chun-wai 黃俊諱 Wong Chun-wai has a versatile composition profile comprising concert music, musicals and film scores. He often infuses different musical languages to evoke various atmospheres and sceneries, engaging audiences with a quasi-multimedia-art experience. More recently he is developing the idea of “21st century (late) Romanticism”, with various contemporary musical ideas and techniques incorporated into the (Late) Romantic musical language. Published and winning multiple awards across the globe, his compositions are featured in international events such as the International Rostrum of Composers, ISCM World Music Days, ACL (Asian Composers League) Festival and the Asian Youth Orchestra World Tour. His music is performed and recorded by prominent groups and musicians including the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (with Jaap van Zweden, Bright Sheng, Sebastian Perłowski and others), Internationale Ensemble Modern Akademie (IEMA), performers from the New York Philharmonic and soloists including Dong-Suk Kang and Jan-Erik Gustafsson. Recently he commissioned a Double Concerto by maestro Jaap van Zweden for his 60th birthday. His scores for films and advertisements are featured in international festivals including the Sound and Image Challenge Festival and Pink City International Short Film Festival, as well as on local platforms including Cable TV and Viu TV. Wong is also an active arranger. He has arranged a number of vocal and instrumental music, some of which are performed by renowned artists and singers such as Nick Vujicic, Rebecca Pan Di-hua and Harry Wong. - PANG Kwan 彭珺 | Hong Kong Composers' Guild
PANG Kwan 彭珺 Pang Kwan, Kevin attained his medical degree and Master of Arts in Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He is in his study of Master of Music at CUHK, under the supervision of Prof Chan Kai Young. His compositions have been performed at the National Symphony Orchestra Musicians at Home Concert in USA, Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival 2020, Interactive Platform for Contemporary Music Appreciation of Hong Kong Composers’ Guild and Ensemble-in-Residence concerts of CUHK Department of Music. MAK Clarence 麥偉鑄 Clarence Mak was born in Hong Kong. After graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Pennsylvania State University in USA, he returned to Hong Kong with his master degree, as a free-lance composer giving talks and workshops in arts institutes and organizations. He joined the music Faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, teaching composition, electronic music and theory, studied music programming at Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, and was invited to be the visiting artist at the University of Missouri at Kansas City Conservatory of Music, and the teaching professor in the International Summer Course in Monthureux Le Sec in France. Mak is a founding member of the Academy Electronic Music Studio. His compositions have been featured in concerts locally and internationally, such as Contemporary Music Festival in London, the International Computer Music Symposium in Taiwan, ISCM New Music Festivals in Romania and Hong Kong, ICMC Computer Music Festival in Beijing and Hong Kong, Electronic Music Festival in USA, Percussion Music Festival in Germany, and ACL Music Festivals. Mak was the secretary, the treasurer, and Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild from 1987 to 2008 respectively and now is the council director. He has been invited to be the adjudicator for international composers’ competitions, and the chief delegate to present Hong Kong composers' works in the Asian-Pacific Music Festivals, the International Rostrums, and the ISCM Festivals. Clarence Mak is currently Head of Composition and Electronic Music at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. 麥偉鑄出生於香港。畢業於香港中文大學和美國賓夕法尼亞州立大學,獲碩士學位後回港,以自由職業作曲家身份到多個院校及藝術機構講學和舉辦創意音樂工作坊。其後受聘於香港演藝學院,教授作曲、電子音樂和理論。曾多次到史丹福大學電腦音樂中心(CCRMA)研究音樂程式編寫及聲響學,並獲密蘇里大學堪薩斯城音樂學院邀請為訪問藝術家,及於法國索恩皮尼勒塞克國際夏日音樂營教授作曲。於1990年創辦了香港演藝學院的電子音樂室。 作品常發表於本地和海外的音樂會、音樂節、和研討會。於1987至2008年間分別曾任香港作曲家聯會秘書、司庫和副主席,現為理事,推廣音樂創作。多次獲邀擔任國際作曲家比賽評判、國際電腦音樂會議的選曲委員、及代表香港出席亞太音樂節、國際現代音樂節、國際作曲家會議。 麥氏現任香港演藝學院作曲及電子音樂系主任。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

CHAN Chin-ting# 陳展霆 Composer Chin Ting (Patrick) CHAN (b. 1986) has held faculty positions at the University of Missouri–Kansas City and Kansas City Kansas Community College. His music has been featured throughout the North and South Americas, Europe and Asia; at festivals such as the International Computer Music Conference, the International Rostrum of Composers, IRCAM’s ManiFeste, June in Buffalo and the Wellesley Composers Conference, among many others. NG King-fung Kelvin 伍擎峯 Kelvin King Fung NG was born in Hong Kong and has studied in Hong Kong, USA and Austria. His works germinate from the core concern of ourselves as spatially and temporally co-existing beings, structuring available materials to examine conditions and issues arising from such facts at the existential level, such as presence, consciousness and intersubjectivity, and their possible meanings. In this sense they possess a high degree of affinity with philosophical outputs from a.o. Nancy’s being-with and Rancière’s distribution of the sensible, while their immanent problems and solutions are able to be illuminated and formulated with the help of knowledge from a.o. anthropology, embodied cognition, semiotics as well as cultural and spiritual practices.
