WONG Hok-yeung Alfred 黃學揚 Born in Hong Kong, Wong’s music has been performed worldwide, Voice of Heritage was received “2014 CASH Golden Sail Music Awards” - Best Serious Composition, Nocturne to the Victoria Harbourand An Illusive Dream were awarded Bronze in the 'Xinyi Cup' for distinctive works for Chinese orchestra by young composers and compositions for the youth orchestra respectively, Flame was selected in International Society for Contemporary Music 2009, etc. In recent years, he is active in writing Chinese instrumental music with more than a hundred output, including theatre music The Eight Immortals' Adventures and The Eight Immortals' Adventures Prequel, jointly presented by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and the Hong Kong Repertory theatre. Besides, Wong often serves as a conductor, he has been invited to conduct in Taiwan, Guangzhou and Malaysia. BROMBERG Brian Patrick# 布萊恩 Brian Patrick Bromberg began playing guitar at the age of 13 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. From this age, he was taught music through composition, jazz, and improvisation, a teaching method he utilises in his classes to this day. When in high school, James Black, a violinist with the Chicago Symphony and the conductor of a local orchestra, noticed Brian’s talent in composition. James gave him a cello and encouraged Brian to start preparing for auditions to universities. Brian attended Illinois State University where he studied cello performance with Gregory Hamilton, conducting with Glenn Block, and composition with David Feurzeig. Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Brian was selected for the cello performance scholarship to attend the prestigious Otago University of New Zealand where he continued his compositional studies with Anthony Ritchie. It was at this time that Brian won The Philip Neill Prize for best new composition. Brian is an active composer of new music with a current repertoire that includes an extensive array of music for orchestra and chamber groups. His works have been performed by ensembles in Singapore, the USA, Canada, Croatia, Italy, Germany, New Zealand, and Australia. Apart from being a major advocate for the performance and cultivation of new music, Brian is an avid chamber and orchestral musician. He has performed with The Lukas Foss Festival Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, the Dunedin Southern Symphonia, the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, and with Singapore’s Orchestra Of Music Makers. In addition to playing cello, Brian is also an active musician in Javanese gamelan. He has performed with Gamelan Singa Nglaras for the past five years, being invited to perform at The Malay Heritage Centre, The Esplanade Theatres on the Bay, and The Asian Civilisations Museum in Singapore. Brian has extensive experience teaching music at the highest levels in the United States and Singapore, a track record of collaborating with colleagues to form and coach ensembles that allow all students to develop their unique talents, and the ability to design experiences that help learners approach music with curiosity and creativity. LEE Kar-tai Phoebus 李家泰 Born and raised in Hong Kong, Dr. Lee Kar-tai Phoebus is an active composer, contemporary-music researcher, and educator. His music have been performed in numerous international music festivals and conferences. He writes music for concerts, multimedia-staged performances, dances, galleries and exhibitions, short films and movies. His music has always been described as poetic and refined by listeners. His music often suggests inspirations from oriental aesthetics, philosophies, and classic literatures, and displays multicultural assimilations and contemporary visions through fine techniques and sophisticated musicality. Lee attained the Doctor of Music degree at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been a part-time lecturer at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong, a composition tutor at the Hong Kong Art Festival youth programme and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology summer programme, as well as an editorial assistant, music researcher, presenter at RTHK Radio 4. He has been teaching music and conducting composition programmes at universities, colleges and schools, giving workshops and lectures to school teachers, students, and the general public, serving as an adjudicators at music festivals and competitions, and being a writer for compositional teaching materials. Choral and Vocal Music Concert Performer 演奏者 30.1.2018 - Chinese Ensemble Music Showcase 中樂作品展演 Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble 竹韻小集 Conductor: Ho Man-chuen 指揮：何文川 Founded in 2003, Windpipe Chinese Music Ensemble is a professional Chinese music ensemble actively promoting local talents and producing quality chamber concerts with a mission to promote Chinese music culture in Hong Kong and to show the unique charm of Chinese instrumental ensemble music. The Ensemble bears the artistic motto ‘Small but Elegant, Simple yet Refined’ of characteristic Chinese music, passing on Cantonese, Hakka and Chiuchow music culture. Since its establishment, it has presented over 50 series concerts and 400 outreach concerts, commissioned and premièred over 20 new works by Hong Kong composers, and cooperated with many international and local maestros. In 2011, conductor Ho Man-chuen was appointed as its Artistic Adviser, and the Ensemble’s founder Chan Chiu-yin was appointed as its Executive Director. Currently it is a grant recipient of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and a registered non-profit-making organization in Hong Kong. Representing Hong Kong, the Ensemble has been engaging in various cultural exchange performances in over 20 countries and regions. HKCC is now the biggest choir in the world and has grown into a diversified arts organization for children. HKCC is invited to perform overseas each year, spreading the message of love and peace in different parts of the world. The Choir has been well received and appreciated in many countries, gaining an international reputation as the “Little Goodwill Singing Ambassadors” and “one of the best children’s choirs in the world”. HKCC was named “China’s Top Ten Children Chorus” in 2003 and won the prestigious “Award of the Audience” at the “Vivace 2006 International Choir Festival” in Hungary. In 2008, the choir was awarded the “Gold Cup” from “Shanghai International Children’s Chorus Festival”. In 2014, HKCC is selected by the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) as one of the IFCM Ambassadors for 2013 to 2015. The Choir was invited to perform in the 2014 “10th World Symposium on Choral Music” in South Korea and 2015 “The 1st IFCM World Choral Expo” in Macau. As the children’s choir that best represents Hong Kong, HKCC took part in many historical moments, including the Hong Kong Handover Ceremony in 1997, the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong International Airport in 1998, the Hong Kong Disneyland Grand Opening in 2005, various performances to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong’s reunification with China in 2007, and series of performances celebrating the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, celebrations for the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, the East Asian Games in 2009, and performances celebrating the 15th Anniversary as well as the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR in 2012 and 2017. 香港兒童合唱團（簡稱「香兒」）成立於1969年，為政府註冊非牟利慈善團體，多年來積極推動藝術培訓，為香港音樂及文化界培育不少人才。現時「香兒」已成為世界上人數最多、組織最龐大的兒童合唱團，更發展為一個多元兒童藝術團體。 「香兒」每年均到外地演出，把愛與和平的訊息傳遍世界，獲譽為「小小音樂親善大使」和「世界最傑出兒童合唱團之一」。「香兒」於2003年獲選為「中國十大少年合唱團」，2006年於匈牙利「Vivace國際合唱節」中奪得最高殊榮的「最受觀眾歡迎大獎」，2008年在「上海國際童聲合唱展演」獲頒贈「金杯獎」，2014年更獲選為2013至2015年度「國際合唱聯盟大使」，並獲邀出席2014年韓國「第十屆世界合唱會議」，以及2015年澳門「首屆國際合唱聯盟世界合唱博覽會」，同時作示範演出。 除外地演出，「香兒」亦積極參與各項慈善表演，包括1999年為聽障兒童籌款的「香港合唱馬拉松」、2001年為香港聾人協進會籌款的「2001慈善音樂會——橋」、2003年聯同護幼教育基金為沙士孤雛籌募教育經費而舉辦的「全賴愛：護幼音樂會」、2006年為香港中文大學籌款的「萬眾童心籌款音樂會」、2008年為聯合國兒童基金會募捐以幫助四川大地震受災兒童的「『童聲傳千里．愛心暖蜀童』馬拉松音樂會」、2010年為香港世界宣明會募捐以協助青海地震災民的「青海地震籌款音樂會」、2011年為兒童發展配對基金籌款的「『聖誕頌歌節2011』啟動慈善音樂會」及2012年為服務聽障兒童的宣美語言及聽覺訓練中心籌款的「心．橋籌款音樂會」。 「香兒」為本港最具代表性的兒童合唱團，經常於香港的歷史性時刻演出，包括1997年香港政權交接儀式、1998年香港國際機場開幕典禮、2005年香港迪士尼樂園開幕典禮、2007年多場慶祝香港回歸10週年的活動、2008年一系列迎接北京奧運活動、2009年多場慶祝建國60週年系列活動、東亞運動會開幕禮、2012年多場慶祝香港回歸15週年的活動及2017年回歸20週年文藝晚會及活動。 I. 樂動香江 情繫神州 國家藝術基金2023資助項目《香港當代民族管弦樂經典音樂作品粵港澳大灣區巡演》——「樂動香江 情繫神州」音樂會 【跨越半世紀，經典傳灣區】 香港城市中樂團成立於1994年，近30年為中華文化竭盡全力、鍥而不捨！今年，樂團榮獲【國家藝術基金2023年度傳播交流推廣項目】資助，是香港十項獲選名單中唯一的大型中樂團。未來一年藉著國家藝術基金立項資助，在大灣區展開巡演系列活動，講好香港故事。 自上世紀七十年代以來，香港中樂的發展令人矚目，同時湧現出一批具有前瞻性的出色作曲家和優秀的中樂作品。近半世紀來，這些作品講述著中國故事，也承載著港人血濃於水的家國情懷，更蘊含著中華傳統文化及其所代表的價值觀。 本次音樂會是國家藝術基金資助項目整個計劃的首場演出，音樂會陣容強大：將由音樂表演藝術家程秀榮、衞承發擔任指揮；由中國著名笛子大師詹永明、香港青年古箏演奏家姚欣及二胡藝術大師程秀榮擔綱獨奏！70餘位樂團成員將傾情演出香港當代經典中樂名曲：陳培勳氣勢恢弘的《民族交響音畫-流水》、陳能濟富有莊周哲學思辨的《夢蝶》、梅廣釗源於傳統且極具創意的《彩雲追月狂想曲》、陳永華熱情洋溢的《八駿》、麥偉鑄飄逸靈動描寫湖光山色的《古箏與樂隊-自在山雲間》、陳錦標充滿童年回憶的《小小山貝河》、羅偉倫、鄭濟民用笛子為主奏樂器訴說了家喻戶曉的民間愛情故事《笛子協奏曲-白蛇傳》、關乃忠以特殊的作曲手法和獨特的藝術風格展現民俗文化習俗風情畫的《豐年祭》等；更有鮮為人知的遺珠之作，如中國著名音樂美學家、香港作曲家葉純之1991年創作的《二胡協奏曲-辛棄疾》，在塵封32年後將在2023年9月15日晚上八點於香港大會堂音樂廳的《樂動香江 情繫神州》音樂會上重見天日！ 這些曾經令世人高山仰止的香港中樂經典作品近二十年被束之高閣，漸被遺忘……本次音樂會及本項目旨在以這些曾膾炙人口的香港經典中樂作品喚起香港及大灣區音樂界及廣大民眾對當代香港傑出文化藝術的瞭解與關注！
