TAM Chin Fai Samuel 譚展輝 Tam Chin-fai, Samuel, is a Doctor of Music who had studied under Professor Victor Chan and Professor David Gwilt. His early performances include piano solo Peace and War, ensemble works Desire, Birds in Cage, multi-media My U-Life, and Concerto Grosso I, which won him the Yu Luan Shih Creativity Award. He worked in the field of popular music production after his first graduation and had received several essential awards. In recent years, Tam has also switched his focus to the field of music education as well as remaining active in serious and pop music composition. His works have been performed by several professional ensembles and performers, among them Swiss Contemporary Music Duo UMS ‘n JIP, Bang On A Can-All-Stars, Hong Kong Kamerata, Sregnis Singers, CAYM Ensemble, The Cantacore Society, tenor Valentin Johannes Gloor, pianists Simone Keller and Shum Kin-wai, and yangqin player Brian Lai, etc., in Italy, Switzerland, Australia, France, Mongolia and Hong Kong. His new works show great interest in Chinese subjects and attempt to blend tonal and atonal sounds in a contemporary musical context. Recent performed pieces include Moments, Three Chinese Poems, Memoir of Ying Wa, Dead Water, Kuang Fu, If Life is Unknown…, Jazzy Illusion of a Chinaman, extracts from Symphony II – Morrison, the series of Liao Zhai, Qiang Jin Jiu, etc. His string quartet Shan Shui I was selected for the final round of the 7th International Contemporary Music Contest “Città di Udine” as well as published in Italy. His choral work Deng Le You Yuan is selected for publication by Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. According to appreciations, piano work Moments has been performed in public thrice within half a year, and the abstract piece Birds’ Words from Liao Zhai has also been performed seven times already in different countries during recent years. In 2017, Tam was commissioned to write two pieces Ballad and Wailing Ghosts from Liao Zhai, that both are separately nominated to and being the finalist of Best Serious Composition ,CASH Golden Sail Music Awards 2017 and 2018. CHAN Wai Kwong Victor 陳偉光 As a composer, Victor has produced over 200 works to date, ranging from opera, orchestral music, to numerous chamber works, choral pieces and songs, many of which are recorded and published. Major works of him include commissions for the 1997 Hong Kong Reunification, the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group / International Monetary Fund, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Radio France, etc. Victor joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1989, having served as Professor in Composition, Dean of General Education and Head of the Chung Chi College. He is currently Professor Emeritus of the Department of Music. Victor enjoys quiet moments of prayer and meditation. He also loves cooking and doing all kinds of housework. 陳偉光至今已完成超過二百多部作品，類型多樣，包括歌劇、管弦樂、室內樂、器樂獨奏曲、合唱及獨唱歌曲等，其中不少已灌錄及出版。陳偉光的主要作品以管弦樂居多，包括了應「九七回歸慶典」、「世界銀行及國際貨幣基金組織年會」、「中國建國五十週年慶典」、及「法國電台管弦樂團」而委約的原創音樂。自一九八九年起，陳偉光一直任教香港中文大學，歷任作曲教授、通識教育主任、及「崇基學院」院長。二零一九年獲大學授予「音樂系榮休教授」。 陳偉光最愛禱告默想的寧靜時刻。在平日的生活中，他也十分享受下廚和做各樣的家務。 MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Back

He also takes part in varies productions such as promotional videos, music videos, webisodes and educational videos. 朱凱濙 Chu Hoi-ying 2011年畢業於香港中文大學音樂系。2014 年畢業於香港浸會大學電影學院藝術碩士（MFA），主修電影製作。2016 年，她入選了釜山國際電影節舉辦的亞洲電影學院（Asian Film Academy），成為學員之一。 李妃蝶 Lee Fei-tip Lee Fei Tip is currently studying Creative Arts and Culture at The Education University of Hong Kong. She is passionate about contemporary art, photography, and time-based art. Her works are abstract with all sorts of old and new emotions and fleeting thoughts drift in and out of distortion. 麥睿勤 Mak Yui-kan 圖太 Tutaj Tutaj is an artist collective established in 2017 in Berlin by two artists, Aleksandra Cieślewicz, from Poznan, Poland, and Chih-Chien Wang, from Montreal, Canada. LAM Chun Hei Matthew 林俊熹 Matthew Chun-hei Lam is currently a music undergraduate at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, specialising in composition. He is now studying composition with Prof. Wendy Lee and he had also studied with Prof. Chan Kai-young, Dr. Lo Hau-man, and Dr. Phoebus Lee Kar-tai. He is also studying piano under Dr. Timothy Kwok Ka Ho. He is an active composer and an enthusiast of contemporary music style, with his goal being exploring and experimenting on a wide array of sounds and timbre, especially with contemporary instrumental techniques. Lam is the winner of Toolbox Percussion International Composition Competition 2019 (TPICC 2019), the finalist of New Generation 2020, and awarded honourable mentions of Hong Kong New Music Ensemble call-for-scores 2020 and 2019 Ensemble Ibis Composition Competition. As an active composer, his works were featured in various events and were selected by various call-for-scores, most notably including Musical Convergence concert held by Hong Kong Composers Guild, Music from the Heart concerts held by Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and Toolbox International Creative Academy 2020 opening concert. Cadenzas of Hong Kong 2.0 The ‘Cadenzas of Hong Kong’ was first held in 2006 and has received enthusiastic support and acclaim from all walks of life! Yielding to popular demand, the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra (HKCO) and the Hong Kong Composers' Guild (HKCG) joined hands again to launch ‘Cadenzas of Hong Kong 2.0’ in 2025. Spanning two years, ‘Cadenzas of Hong Kong 2.0’ comprises two parts, Field Study and Call for New Works. 1. Field Study The first field study will be held in early January 2026 and only be open to members of the HKCG. Please pay attention to the announcement by the HKCG at a later date for the location and registration details. 2. Call for New Works Composers are welcome to compose a new work of 5-7 minutes according to the orchestra configuration of the HKCO with the theme of ‘Tell the China's Stories Well’. The works selected by the jury will be world premiered by the HKCO at the Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Polytechnic University on 13th March 2025. We sincerely thank all local partners, village committees, and residents for their generous support, coordination, and hospitality throughout the journey. Across multiple village visits, community members shared a wide range of professional and folk music traditions, including Jingpo and De’ang songs and Jingpo wind-pipe repertoire. Our members were able to learn directly through hands-on experiences—trying traditional instruments, singing a Jingpo welcome song together, learning local dances, and engaging in in-depth cultural exchange. We were also warmly received through musical welcome and farewell ceremonies, and in return our members performed on site to express our gratitude. The trip further included learning about the sanxian (three-stringed lute) tradition, Elephant-Foot Dance practices (including instrument-making and performance techniques), and Dai traditional songs such as mountain songs, toasting songs, and love songs. 1/19 2025 GuangXi Field Trip The Hong Kong Composers' Guild, together with its directors and members, made a visit to Nanning, Guangxi Province, China to conduct a series of music exchange activities on 6 Jan to 9 Jan 2025. This event was co-organized by the Hong Kong Composers Guild and the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra. They took the high-speed train to Guangxi, China for exchange activities. Activities include traditional folklore collection activities, Chinese Zhuang chants and folk songs, Tianqin music, etc. We look forward to striving for more interesting and meaningful activities for members in the coming year!
