CHANG Herbert# 張海伯 Born in 1948, California, U.S.A. In 1959, at age 11, Chang entered Chinese Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. The study started from elementary and then high school. In 1966, the Cultural Revolution interrupted his study, and in 1968, he was sent to Tianjing Gegu Farm to receive re-education. He grew rice there. Three and half years later, the government assigned him a violinist position in the Chinese Central Ballet, which at that time was a model troupe of Mao’s wife. In 1978, he was transferred back to the Central Conservatory to teach at the high school department. In 1979, Chang returned to the U.S, and studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Currently, he is a violin teacher in the U.S, and also a composer with two violin text books published by Mel Bay Music Publications; “Forty Studies for Violin” and “Daily Scale Exercises for Violin”. 於1948年出生於美國加利福尼。 （父母均為留美學生）1959年進入中央音樂學院附小, 然後附中學習。 1966年文化大革命爆發，學業停止。 1968年被送到天津葛沽農場接受“再教育”。張在農場種水稻。 1972年被分配到中央芭蕾舞團工作。 （當時是江青的樣板團）於1978年被調回中央音樂學院附中任教。 1979年赴美。 1979到1982年在美國舊金山音樂學院學習。現在在美國做小提琴教師並且從事音樂創作。在美國出版了“小提琴練習曲40首”，和“小提琴每日音階練習”兩部著作。 （由美國 Mel Bay 公司出版）最近完成了“特出小提琴技術練習”一書以及一些樂曲，其中包括小提琴獨奏曲8首，中提琴獨奏曲1首，大提琴獨奏曲1首，弦樂四重奏一部。 （4個樂章） MAJOR WORKS 主要作品 Two violin text-books have been published in the U.S. They are “Forty Studies for Violin” and “Daily Scale Exercises for Violin”. FONG Lok-chi 方樂知 Since he first encountered a piano, Roger does not just play on it but branches out himself into different music activities. He got an ATCL, an LMusTCL and an MA degree of Music from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has been singing, performing, arranging and conducting in various music groups as well as taking part in different types of administrative works in different groups, organizing various art activities. Organizations include the Chinese University of Hong Kong Chorus, Hong Kong Youth Choir, Methodist Church Hong Kong, SingFest etc. For composition, beside his dedication on pop music which was prized before, he, since his postgraduate days, became a member of the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. His Glimpses on Ourselves was premiered by the Hong Kong Wind Kamerata, and other works were chosen by the Guild for Match Making Concert 2018 and Hong Kong Contemporary Music Festival 2018, also broadcasted by RTHK 4. His works were performed by renowned ensembles such as the Hong Kong Children Choir and Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. IP Mun-wa 葉滿華 Ip Mun Wa, graduated a Master of Art in Music from Chinese Univesity of Hong Kong and Bachelor of Education (Honors) from Hong Kong Institute of Education. He studied composition under the guidance of Dr. Lai Sheung-Ping. Ip has awarded the Champion of Music Lesson Planning Competition held by Hong Kong Association for Music Education, 2nd running up of the Chinese Music Composition Contest at Hong Kong Music Festival, winner of the HKIED’s Artistic Excellence Award (Academic)(2008) and finalist in HKIED’s Artistic Excellence Award (2006-08). SO Ka-wai 蘇家威 So Ka-wai is a clarinetist and composer. He started learning clarinet from the age of thirteen with Mr. Cheung Wan, Mr. Andrew Simon and Mr. Martin Choy Kwok-tin while performed in the master-class conducted by Dr. David Pino during studying undergraduate at HKBU. He was also a member of Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band and the Klappen Ensemble. He is now the concertmaster of the Parsons Wind Orchestra. He obtained both undergraduate and M.Phil degree at Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring music composition under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Keyes and Dr. Christopher Coleman. He actively composed different kinds of music, including electro-acoustic piece Waterscape, his wind orchestra suite Four Supernatural Constellations, clarinet work Dream, oboe solo Volans and percussion quartet In the Dream of Ancient Path. His works were performed frequently in local and overseas, such as Japan, Taiwan and Scotland. BOO Chun-kit 布俊傑 Boo Chun Kit graduated in 2016 from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in composition and electronic music. Afterwards, he pursued further study in the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Media (MFACM) degree programme at City University of Hong Kong and graduated in 2018. He was selected to take part in Sig. Tune for Hong Kong Museum of Art: Creative Music Programme in 2019. He composed A Flowing Tune of Paints under the theme of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy. This work has been broadcast in the exhibition and different media platforms. Besides, his duet piece Worries have been performed in different concerts. He is also keen on multimedia production, and exploring the possibilities of music through different presentations and perspectives.
