YUNG Sin-kan Bonnie
Full of tension and unpredictability, Yung Sin-K=kan Bonnie’s music often draws inspiration from tiny moments of daily life, and yet there is no lack of philosophical notions in her music. Born and raised in Hong Kong, a multicultural city, her music is well-articulated and daring, often filled with great polarities. Her experience in Estonia and her interest in poetry and literature adds a distinctive taste to her music.
Yung has been selected by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra to participate in the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Composers Scheme. She was also commissioned by Hong Kong Baptist University Choir and has collaborated with Placard Quintet, ESTICA Quintet, and various ensembles in Hong Kong and Europe.
Yung obtained her Master’s degree in Music (Classical Composition) cum laude at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre under the tutelage of Toivo Tulev, and Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Music (First Honour) at Hong Kong Baptist University under the tutelage of Eugene Birman. She has also participated in numerous masterclasses and was tutored by renowned composers including Helmut Lachenmann, Toshio Hosokawa, and Ken Ueno.
