YUNG Sin-kan Bonnie
翁蒨懃
Full of tension and unpredictability, Yung Sin-Kan Bonnie’s music often draws inspiration from tiny moments of daily life, and yet there is no lack of philosophical notions in her music. Born and raised in Hong Kong, a multicultural city, her music is well-articulated and daring, often filled with great polarities. Her experience in Estonia and her interest in poetry and literature adds a distinctive taste to her music. Yung was selected by Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (2019–2022) and Toolbox International Creative Academy (2022) as Fellow Composer. She was commissioned by the 75th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, HKBUC, HKFWO, Placard Quintet, and HKBU Centre for Innovative Service-Learning. In 2023, her Cantonese Choral work “in a blink of” was selected in From Constraints to Creativity, A Conference on Cantonese Contemporary Music. Yung collaborated with various ensembles and choirs in Hong Kong and Europe, such as Hong Kong Youth Choir, ESTICA Quintet, EMTA sinfonietta, and actively collaborates with different individual artists, including Hong Kong ceramic artists Amie Chan for her film/ceramic projects, and Estonia-based Italian clarinettist Vittoria Ecclesia. Yung obtained her Master’s degree in Music (Classical Composition) cum laude at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and Bachelor of Arts (Hon.) in Music (First Honour) at Hong Kong Baptist University. She is now an active chorister, music educator, and project coordinator.
翁蒨懃於香港出生成長，香港急速的步伐也成為她的音樂的一部份。她的音樂充滿張力及變化， 清晰大膽，無懼於展現自我。儘管如此，她的靈感卻來自身邊微小的一事一物，而她於愛沙尼 亞的經歷及她對文學的喜愛亦為她的音樂增添上不少色彩。 翁氏為 2019-2022 年度香港管弦樂團何鴻毅家族基金作曲家計劃及 2022 年度敲擊襄國際共襄創 意學院的入選作曲家之一，並於近年承蒙第 75 屆香港校際音樂節、香港浸會大學合唱團、香 港節日管樂團，以及香港浸會大學創新服務學習中心委約。翁氏的作品《＿如曇花》獲選為 《以制約啟發創意：粵語合唱音樂會》演出作品之一。 翁氏曾與多個歐洲及香港的音樂團體合作，包括香港新青年合唱團、Placard Quintet 及 ESTICA Quintet 等。她亦與陶瓷藝術家陳雅雯合作，為陳氏的陶瓷/電影作品配樂，並於 2021 全球設計 研究生展評委獲得提名。 翁氏先後於香港浸會大學音樂系及愛沙尼亞音樂及戲劇學院畢業。修讀碩士期間榮獲愛沙尼亞 大學留學生獎學金、學院優異獎學金，並獲得學院短期交流獎學金，作為學院代表到波蘭交流。
