LI Cheong 李昌
LI, Cheong studied in music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and obtained a Master in Music in 2004 under the supervision of Prof Victor Chan. After working as an instructor in computer music at IVE (Kwun Tong) and Centralized Scheme of Music Training for Secondary School Students, he is currently studying for a PhD at the University of York, under the supervision of Prof Roger Marsh and Dr Thomas Simaku.
His pieces have been performed in soundscape festival in Italy and Hong Kong Arts Festival. In the past, he has collaborated with various performers and groups including the 24, the Threads Orchestra, Chimera Ensemble (England), Fulcum Point New Music Project (Chicago), Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, King’s Harmonica Quintet and Windpipe Chinese Ensemble. Li is also interested in writing music for theatre and dance. His musical Alice (2010) was performed by students of the Ying Wah Girls’ School (Hong Kong). He has also collaborated with dancers from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance (Leeds) in writing music for two dance theatre pieces (2009, 2012).
李昌畢業於香港中文大學音樂系，隨陳偉光教授學習作曲，並於2004年獲得音樂碩士學位。畢業後從事作曲編曲及教學的工作，曾任教中學會考音樂班及在 IVE (觀塘分校)任教電腦音樂課程。現於英國約克大學繼續進修博士課程，師隨Prof Roger Marsh 及 Dr Thomas Simaku。他過往的作品曾在 soundSCAPE Festival (Italy)、香港藝術節演出，合作過的團體有英國的The 24、Chimera Ensemble、Threads Orchestra；美國的 Fulcum Point New Music Project；香港管弦樂團、香港中樂團、英皇口琴五重奏、竹韻小集等。他曾為英華女校創作音樂劇《愛麗斯》(2010)，亦曾和利茲的Northern School of Contemporary Dance的同學合作，為兩首舞蹈作品創作音樂 (2009, 2012)。
