The renowned Korean ensemble TIMF featured in this “Asian Modern Music” series was originally founded in 2001 as an ambassador of publicity for Tongyeong International Music Festival, an annual festival paying homage to the late Korean-German composer Yun Isang, who is himself a native of Tongyeong. Since then, TIMF has established itself as a chamber group with diverse repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary music, and has contributed in the promotion of contemporary music to the audience at large. Under the baton of Christopher Lee Byunguk, the concerts in this series will feature works by Asian Pacific composers. In addition, TIMF Ensemble will further collaborate with Chinese musicians in the premieres of three mixed ensemble commissioned works by Hong Kong composers.
