The best young composers at local institutes will work with the visiting International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) ensemble in three workshops in which their music will be further refined and discussed by experienced conductors, musicians and composers.  Four pieces will be selected by a German-HK jury for a final performance together with four other works by the visiting composers.  Two distinguished German musicians (members of Ensemble Modern) will also deliver an instrumental lecture demonstration to illustrate the use of flute and violin in contemporary music and German composer Johannes Schöllhorn will give lectures about composition today.

本地多間大專院校的年輕作曲家，將在三節作曲家工作坊中，與來自德國的國際現代合奏音樂學院成員，包括指揮、演奏家和作曲家一同探討及分享創作心得，從而提昇作品水平。由德國及本港組成的評審團，更會在本地作曲家的作品中，挑選四首佳作，以及另外四首訪港作曲家的作品，一同於交流音樂會中演出。兩位經驗豐富的德國現代室內樂團演奏家，將主持一場樂器示範講座，展示長笛及小提琴在演奏現代音樂時的竅門。此外，德國作曲家蘇爾漢亦會講授有關當代音樂的創作。

International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA)

Since 2006 the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA) in conjunction with Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) has offered a joint Masters course in Contemporary Music.

Thanks to funding from the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the Kunststiftung NRW and the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, young artists (instrumentalists, conductors, composers, and sound directors) are able to work for an entire year with the members of the Ensemble Modern on the diverse repertoire of modern music.

The goal of the course is to teach contemporary performing techniques, the treatment of notation and interpretation of contemporary music, as well as to develop an understanding for aesthetic concepts immanent to the works and to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the repertoire of music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Cooperation with institutes such as the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe and the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies Giessen provides the opportunity for interdisciplinary projects. Famous composers and conductors are also regularly invited to participate, including Friedrich Cerha, Peter Eötvös, Heiner Goebbels, Heinz Holliger, Helmut Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm and Hans Zender. The results of this work are presented in 20 concerts each year in Germany and abroad.

國際現代合奏音樂學院

國際現代合奏音樂學院和法蘭克福音樂及演藝大學自2006年起聯合主辦當代音樂碩士課程。有賴德國政府文化基金、北威州藝術基金及法蘭克福萊茵緬茵文化基金的資助，年青的藝術家（器樂演奏家、指揮家、作曲家及音效指導）能夠全年和「德國現代室內樂團」的成員合作不同風格的現代曲目。課程的目標是希望透過教授當代音樂表演技巧、當代音樂的記譜和分析方法，建立出學生對理解作品內在美學概念的能力，並廣泛地豐富他們對20及21世紀音樂的認識。與卡爾斯魯厄藝術及媒體中心和基森劇場應用學院等其他院校的合作，能提供跨學系學習計劃的機會。學院更會定期邀請著名作曲家及指揮家參與課程，如契爾哈、伊奧沃斯、郭貝爾、賀力格、拉赫曼、里姆及先達。參與這個計劃的作品每年都會在德國及海外舉行的二十多場音樂會中發表。
